Welcome to 5/6H

5/6H class teacher is Mrs Hardcastle.
Other adults who also sometimes help in the classroom are Mrs Murphy and Mrs Bradbury. Some children are taught for Numeracy by Mrs Gaunt while others have Mrs Hall for Numeracy and Literacy. Some of the Year 6 pupils are taught in Literacy by Mr Sunter.

The topics we cover over the year include The Victorians, Water and The Romans. We try to link all subjects to these broad topics, for example in Design Technology we make moving toys-look at our photos to see some of our results.

We have PE and Swimming on Monday’s and Wednesday’s. The day changes half way through the school year.

Our main homework is reading for twenty minutes each day and we also have Literacy homework on a Tuesday to be completed for Friday and Maths homework on a Friday to be completed for Monday. Sometimes we may have tasks for other subjects.

The highlights of Year 5/6 are usually trips and special events for example our visit to the Thackray Museum to study how Victorians lived. Look at the photos section to see why we enjoyed our day so much!

We are also all involved in performing in school productions. This year at the end of the Autumn Term we sang and acted in Cinderella/Rockerfella.

We look forward to visiting Cliffe House every year. It is a great experience staying away from home for a couple of nights-we learn lots of new skills too.

Other special times are our Eid and Christmas parties, local walks and this year our Twinning Project with Leeside Community School.
