World Book Day - March 2009

Work

In 4br we are working on improving our writing skills. We have Literacy groups so that our teacher can help us make better progress. In Numeracy we are in 2 sets. Mr Bird takes set 1 and Miss Rashid takes set 2. In our topic work we work in mixed ability groups. In Year 4 we study 3 main topics. In the autumn term we study the Vikings, in the spring term we study the Tudors and in the summer term we study The Environment.

Literacy: We are working towards improving our descriptive language and using a variety of punctuation and connectives in our writing.

Numeracy: We are developing our calculation skills and apply these skills to solve word problems. We are also learning as many times tables as we can.

 Science Week - March 2009

What do I need for school and when?
Boys need their PE kit on a Monday and their swimming kit on a Wednesday. Girls need their swimming kit on a Monday and their PE kit on a Wednesday. Please remember to bring your book bag, reading book and planner to school everyday.

How can I improve my learning at home?

Homework
Miss Rashid will send homework home on Fridays. The children will get Literacy and Numeracy homework to hand in the following Thursday. Occasionally, Miss Rashid will send homework related to different subjects. It is important to complete homework as it will improve your learning.
Spellings – Spellings will be given on Tuesday to practice for a spelling test on Friday.

Reading - Your child should also bring home their reading book and reading log. They should try to read for 10-15 mins a day with an adult.

Special Times
