3H Class Pages
Topics
Class 3H has three different topics throughout the year. In the Autumn Term we learn about the Ancient Egyptians. We find out about how people lived in the past, how they worshipped and what they believed. In the Spring Term our topic is Pirates. Why not visit this pirate website. Children find this topic exciting and through it children learn about aspects of life in the past, how to keep healthy and different parts of the world. The Summer Topic is Pakistan. A significant number of children in our school have families with links to Pakistan. Through the topic children compare life in Heckmondwike with city and village life in Pakistan. They also find out about the geography and natural history of Pakistan.

Key Skills
Literacy, numeracy and science are central to our curriculum. Children build on their numeracy skills from Year 2. They begin to learn formal methods to perform calculations and they learn how to apply this knowledge to solve problems. In literacy they learn how to read and write different types of texts including stories, instructions and reports. Children cover six different science topics through the year in which they develop the skills of scientific investigation.
