Welcome to the 1W Page
Hello, we are Class 1W. There are 30 children in our class and we spend most of our time in Room 1a. Our teacher is called Miss Worthington. We also have other adults who help us in our class; their names are Miss Rehman and Mrs Hough.
We work very hard each day in five ability groups, these are named after colours. We also visit different teachers for half an hour each day while we do our Phonics sessions. During Phonics we practice the skills which will help us to read and write by ourselves.
During the year we develop our skills through a variety of exciting topics. In the Autumn term our topics are called ‘I am Amazing’ and ‘Light and Dark’. Our Spring term topics are called ‘Marvellous Materials’ and ‘Journeys’ . Finally, in the Summer term, we carry out topics called ‘Down at the Bottom of the Garden’ and ‘Under the Sea’.
In 1W, we try as often as possible to go on visits and trips to help us develop our understanding and skills in different curriculum areas. This year, our off-site visits include Cannon Hall Farm and Tropical World. We will also be visiting a Church and a Mosque as part of our RE lessons.
In 1W we visit the Library and the ICT suite every Wednesday and our PE lessons are on a Monday and a Thursday. We have our reading books changed twice a week and always get homework on a Friday. We are very good at remembering to hand our completed homework back in on a Monday!
