Meet the Artists Workshops’

Artists Working In Partnerships with Schools

 

Free Twilight Workshops

  

 

Meet the Artsists'  Workshops sessions are organised in conjunction with practising 'Adopt an Artist ' artists and designers. The workshops are intended to build partnership between schools and artists as well develop skills, and creative initiative approaches to support learning.

 

The workshops will be delivered by the artists; however, a minimal charge will have to be made to cover costs of materials, administration and food. A nominal charge of £15 will be to cover each workshop. This will be invoiced to schools after 5 workshops have been attended.

Dr Simpo’s Guide to Do

 It Yourself Comic Books

 

            

The first workshops to be delivered will be from ‘Dr Simpo ‘(Ben Simpson) a cartoonist and animator.

 

Workshop aims and objectives.

  • To develop basic skills and understand of the processes involved in producing a comic book and an understanding of the artists role.                                               
  • To explore curriculum opportunities for produce a comic book and cross curricular opportunities.

 David Mayne – Creative Structures

 

 

The session at Newsome High School will include a brief presentation from David about his work followed by two practical workshops introducing wire and foil sculpture. These materials are suitable for both primary and secondary schools - from simple portrait sculptures to constructions that explore architecture and geometric forms.

 

Workshop aims and objectives.

  • To develop basic skills and understand of the processes involved in producing foil sculptures and understanding of the artists role.
  • To explore curriculum opportunities for produce portrait sculptures and cross curricular opportunities

 Sarah Branson – Earth Arts

 

The session at Newsome High School will include a brief presentation from Sarah about her work followed by practical workshops through Earth Arts. The resources and materials used will be suitable for primary schools, however, may be of some interest to Secondary teachers.

  • To deliver mini workshops giving a taster of Earth Art, Forest Schools and Felt Making.
  • To inspire and encourage creativity approaches to learning.
  • To explore curriculum opportunities.

 Kay Spencer – Craft-based Arts

 

 

The session at Batteford J I & N School will include an overview from Kay about her work followed by practical workshops which will include silk, glass and ceramic painting. All of these media are suitable for children and adults of all ages and abilities.

Tom Wood – Painter/Printmaker

Tom will lead a workshop in mark making and methods of recording that can then be applied both in the secondary and primary classroom across a wide spectrum of subjects. All materials will be provided.

  

Workshop aims and objectives.

 

  • To provide a series of methods and techniques in mark making using of a wide variety of materials.
  • To provide a series of strategies that will enable visualizing and recording to become more attractive, interesting, dynamic and creative.
  • To build confidence in the use of these strategies across the curriculum and there application in a digital environment.

 Zoom Animation

 

Come along and find out about ways that animation can be used to bring a range of subjects to life in schools from emotional literacy to science.

 

Zoom Animation combine the talents of an arts educator and a character animator.  We've worked with individual schools and arts education organisations such as Creative Partnerships and we'd like to develop new relationships with schools in our local area.
